Curiously Silent

I searched for God in religion,
But my search there seemed in vain,
But then again, perhaps it was just
The configuration of my brain

I searched for God in the spiritual,
And all the things that entails,
But even with all the help of men,
My search was still to no avail.

I searched for God both hither and yon,
In the things that the learned men said,
But to judge from their motivations, what they acted on,
You'd think that God was dead.

Then one day I heard this voice,
It was small and sort of thin.
It said, Why do you look for me out there?
If you want to find me, you must look within.

For I am as a grain of mustard seed,
I am small and humble of heart.
But the cares and feelings this world evokes,
Has torn our relationship apart.

For I am Love without condition,
Left out of the world by people of greed.
For I would never charge you for things,
I gave you everything you need.

I listened to this voice, for it made sense,
And I thought it must not be for me alone.
I would tell the world of what I found,
And tell them all how much I've grown.

But they turned on me, saying, How can this be?
Men greater than you haven't reached this conclusion.
What you say must be poppycock and balderdash,
Nothing more that flights of fancy and illusion.

Retreating from the world of business and men
I continue on in my own quiet way
Listening to the the voice of Love
And following every word each day
