Connecting to the Love viewpoint is as simple as making the choice. It is in maintaining that perspective, that it becomes a little difficult, but not impossible. Just as footpaths in a forest become grooves in the ground with a lot of use, our minds get use to responding a certain way to certain sets of circumstances. Responses can become automatic, almost like a reflex action. To break out of the old model of behavior, start making it a habit that before you say, do, or think anything, purposely think about the Love perspective. Let every thought you have, every word you speak, and every action you take come from the Love perspective. It may be a slow process at first, but stopping to think about what you are doing and why, can help you immensely.
Now, there are other things that have to be looked at that influence the way we think. As mentioned before, our food choices, the form it is in and so on, will affect the level of nutrients we get. If we are not getting all the right nutrients, we will not have proper brain function. If we do not have proper brain function, how can we think or reason properly?
There are other things that affect the way we think. What we put in our stomachs is not the only kind of food there is. What we choose to read, watch, listen to, or think about will also have its effects. Your viewpoint (or the basis of your beliefs) will determine how things affect you, or whether you decide to watch, read, listen to, or think about some things at all. For example, why would someone, under normal circumstances, carry a weapon? Normally, the only reason to carry a weapon is fear. You might say that fear cannot be the only reason. Well, look at it this way, if it is for protection, there is a fear someone or something stronger is waiting to attack. If the reason is intimidation, once again there is a fear that the one who is to be intimidated is stronger. If the weapon is being carried as a security blanket, for confidence, again fear gives the feeling of insecurity.
Therefore to people who might carry a weapon, it represents to them security, protection, or power. The reality of the reason people carry a weapon is they are afraid or have a serious mental problem. Where would people get such ideas about weapons representing security, protection, or power? Perhaps from watching movies, television programs, nightly news, seeing governmental military actions, etc.. The message that is coming through these channels ( movies, television programs, news programs, governmental military actions, etc.) seems to say that this is the way to solve problems. Whether they are trying to say, "might is right" (this is the way you do things) or not, this seems to be the message that is coming through (at least it seems to be the one people are getting). If you do not think this is true, you can look at the results of these types of messages played out everyday on our streets, in our cities, and between countries.
Choose to watch, read, listen to, or think about things that lift the thoughts to higher and finer things. Take some time out each day to meditate on Love. Think of what Love means. When the mind wanders away from your focus on Love, gently bring it back.
The human mind functions best when we are at peace, and relaxed. This was the original purpose of music, relaxation. If the music you listen to winds you up or stresses you out, as in the way they use to use drums before battle, ask yourself why you are listening to this music. If you feel like you have to be doing something, again ask yourself why. A mind that is grasping and clutching for things to do, to keep itself occupied, is a mind that does not want to face itself. A mind that is in a constant whirlwind, so to speak, has not found inner peace.
Likewise, the more things you need to do to feel you have a fulfilling life, the more empty of peace you are. Someone with a rich inner life does not need to do things in order to be happy and fulfilled, for they already are. Though by helping others, the feeling of fulfillment increases.
The feeling that you get when you find this Love inside, is probably the greatest feeling you can have. It is like no other. When this Love connects with that same Love in someone else, it becomes amplified. The feeling that comes closest to describing what this Love feels like, would be spending time with your closest and dearest friends. Friends that just love you and accept you without expectation or reservation. Now imagine a world where this Love connects everyone and everything.
You and Your Body
Have you ever heard the expression "We are the observers, but not the observed." It is like saying that we are the force or spirit, if you will, that animates the particular body we inhabit, but we are not the body. Though the body we inhabit will tell things about us. What we truly are may only be seen in our actions.
In trying to be honest and objective when looking at ourselves, to say that we are no more than these physical bodies we inhabit, is to be rather presumptuous. To say that we do not continue in some other form after we shed these physical bodies is equally presumptuous. Describing who and what we are by examining the physical bodies we inhabit, is like describing a butterfly without knowing what a butterfly is, and all you have ever seen or were able to do is visually examine the exterior of its cocoon.
The body you inhabit is made from the food you eat. As with anything else, the higher the quality of the ingredients or materials used, the better the product. When the body does not get what it requires, it will use the closest substitute, but in doing so, the body degrades.
Question: If you began to lose your cognitive abilities, would you be cognizant enough to know it? The physical brain, that part of the body that translates our conscious thoughts into something expressible by action or speech, has certain nutritional requirements. If those requirements are not met, will the brain continue to function properly? If the brain does not function properly, will our concepts and ideas be affected? Wouldn't you think we would lose our ability to think clearly?
Let's back up a bit. Where does the brain get the ideas it gets? Where does inspiration come from, flashes of insight and so on? Could there be a part of us that is above the level of conscious thought? It would seem so, or how could fully formed ideas seemingly pop into our minds.
Now, how do you suppose this part of us, the part that cannot be seen and is above the level of conscious thought, connects to what we know as the conscious mind. If what we call the physical brain is not functioning properly, would the insights or inspirations be distorted and unable to make the transition to conscious thought correctly? If these insights did make it to your consciousness, would they be noticed above the clamor of everyday thought, concerns, and desires?
Perhaps you have the feeling of being disconnected, or more correctly, minimally connected. Some people feel this lack of connection so intensely that they make the statement that they have to find themselves, or that they've lost themselves. Perhaps you were born only minimally connected. Most of us probably are, due to not only our diet, but the diets of our parents, grandparents, and so on.
The reconnecting process is as simple as giving the body (which includes the brain) you inhabit what it needs (nutritionally). Then you will need to supply or work on the Love perspective which feeds the mind and spirit. By giving the mind, body, and spirit, what they need to rebuild and function properly, you will be stopping those things that are tearing you and our planet apart.
